Lemon Plant with Grow Bag

Lemon Plant with Grow Bag

The Lemon Plant (Citrus limon) is one of the best fruiting plants to grow in grow bags for home gardens, terraces, and balconies. It is hardy, fragrant, and yields vitamin C–rich lemons almost year-round when properly cared for. 🍋🌿

🌸 Appearance

  • Leaves: Glossy, dark green, aromatic when crushed.

  • Flowers: Small, white, fragrant blossoms that attract bees.

  • Fruit: Round to oval yellow lemons, juicy and tangy.

  • Size: In a grow bag, it grows 3–5 feet tall (with pruning).

🌿 Growing in Grow Bags – Care Tips

  1. Grow Bag Size: Use a 24–30 inch grow bag (40–60 liters capacity) for a grafted lemon plant.

  2. Soil Mix: Best mix – 40% garden soil + 30% compost + 20% cocopeat + 10% sand/perlite.

  3. Light: Needs 6–8 hours of full sunlight daily.

  4. Watering: Water deeply when the topsoil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging.

  5. Fertilizer: Add organic compost every month. During fruiting, supplement with extra potassium (banana peel compost, vermicompost).

  6. Pruning: Prune regularly to maintain shape and remove dead/weak branches.

  7. Fruit Bearing: Grafted lemon plants can start fruiting in 1.5–2 years in grow bags.
