✅ What to Look for in a Good Playground Slide

Feature Details / Why It Matters
Material Common materials are FRP (fibreglass), mild steel or GI steel, plastic, or a combination. FRP / plastic tends to be smoother, less risk of getting hot in sun; metal is more durable but needs good paint/coating to avoid corrosion.
Slide type / shape Straight slides, wave slides (curvy), spiral slides, tunnel slides, double lanes, etc. Different shapes give different fun + affect speed and safety.
Platform height & slide length Higher slides are more exciting but need stronger structure, safe ladders/rails, adequate fall zone. Lower heights are safer for younger kids.
Safety features Handrails, guardrails, non-slip ladders / steps, smooth edges, gentle landing (run-out at end), appropriate width, sidewalls to prevent sliding off.
Finish & coating Powder coating, galvanised steel, UV resistant plastics/paints. This helps with weather (rain, sun), reduces rust, fading.
Age group & load capacity Make sure the slide is suitable for the age of children who will use it; also capacity (how many kids, how much weight).
Space & fall zone Slide exit needs clear zone; the ladder needs space; platform needs safe access. Good distance from other equipment to avoid collisions.
Maintenance & assembly Can the slide be installed easily? Are parts available for repair? Is the structure easy to maintain (cleaning, repainting, etc.)?
